WiFiMap

See where your Wi-Fi actually reaches

Privacy Policy

Last updated 12 September 2026

WiFiMap collects nothing. It has no account, no sign-up, and no server. The app contains no networking code that reaches beyond your own local network — it cannot send your readings, your location or your coverage maps anywhere, because there is nowhere to send them.

Your Wi-Fi router

WiFiMap pings your Wi-Fi router over your local network to measure connection quality — signal strength, response time, and whether the connection is reachable from where you're standing. This traffic never leaves your local network. It goes to your router and back, not to WiFiMap or anyone else.

WiFiMap also reads basic information about the Wi-Fi network you're currently connected to (such as its name), so it knows which network a coverage map belongs to. This stays on your device.

Your location

WiFiMap uses your location only while you are actively recording a coverage map, to tag each Wi-Fi reading with where you were standing when you took it. This is what turns a list of pings into a map.

Location data is stored only on your device, as part of the coverage maps you create. It is never transmitted anywhere, never uploaded, and never shared — not with WiFiMap's developer, not with any third party.

Your Photos library

When you choose to export a coverage map, WiFiMap can save the generated image to your Photos library. This only happens when you explicitly ask for it — the app does not browse or access your existing photos, and only adds the image you created.

What the app never does

Data you export

Coverage map images you save are produced on your device and handed to your Photos library or the system share sheet. Where they go from there is your choice, and what happens to them afterward is outside the app's control and this policy.

Children

WiFiMap is a general-purpose network tool. It is not directed at children and collects no information from anyone.

Your records are yours

Everything WiFiMap creates — coverage maps, readings, saved images — lives only on your device. Deleting the app deletes them. Nothing is held anywhere else to delete on your behalf, because nothing ever left your device in the first place.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and the previous versions remain in the public repository's history.
